Candles at Easter: healing and cleansing of the soul 🕯

These three days are considered cleansing of the soul in order to begin a new stage , which will begin on Resurrection Sunday . This day is a symbol of hope, of joy, of a new resurgence. For this reason, it is important to work conscientiously on purification and self-forgiveness , in order to achieve the “new me”.

Like the spring equinox, Easter is the beginning of a new cycle and an ideal time to bring out all that we do not want in our lives and leave room for the new, for positive thoughts and good will . There are different beliefs regarding the use of candles during Holy Week , that is why we want to explain, from our perspective, what to do with candles and how to do it during the Easter Triduum .

• The candles that are used during Easter are always white candles . You can make a novena starting the next day 27 so that the light will accompany you throughout the whole holiday. Another possibility is to light a white candle only the 3 days of the Easter Triduum .

• On April 1, 2 and 3 (in the case of this year) it is customary to perform purification rituals , always with white candles and incense, to create a suitable environment for reflection and self-forgiveness . For this occasion, we recommend using grain incense such as myrrh or copal, suitable for these jobs due to their natural origin and spiritual strength .

• The quintessential day to light candles is Holy Saturday , as it is known as the resurrection watch . The candles lit on this night symbolize the light and hope that life radiates, and they are used to light late at night. You can use the Archangel Michael's Prepared Candle, the Purification Purpose Candle or a white candle.
