Knowing how to stop and reflect is a characteristic feature of the human being. We all have a reflective capacity that makes us unique, due to our ideas, principles and insecurities. Introspection allows us to reach that inner world to discover who we are and what we want.

Society constantly drags us to pay attention to the "outside world." The fact of wanting to be permanently busy leads us to avoid introspection, also out of fear of what we may find inside, and this can create long-term negative effects. Knowing ourselves affects our happiness , and also our personal relationships: we will be more honest, more authentic and we will be much more aware of what we are involved in.

When we solve aspects within ourselves that may seem confusing or conflictive, we avoid anxieties or fears and we give a more important value to our own feelings , taking priority away from the exterior. It is essential to find a balance between the internal world and the external world .

But… what can we do to introspection?

It is very important to create a suitable environment for it. Find a space where you feel comfortable to be able to enjoy your own company and try to dedicate around 10 minutes a day to it . It is important that you feel comfortable and that you are not interrupted .

  • Use relaxation and meditation candles or incense to create that comfortable atmosphere. You can also put on relaxing music.
  • Your feelings are the most important, give them the value they deserve.
  • Take a hard look at your past, what mistakes you have made and what has worked for you.
  • Analyze your shortcomings and the points that make you feel more pain, anguish or dissatisfaction. If any of them have a solution, focus on solving it .
  • Understand yourself and renew those aspects that you want to improve. Think of yourself and specify your needs .
  • Recognize your strengths and set your goals .
  • When you know where you are, DO NOT let past worries enter your thinking, feel the here and now to be able to enjoy and value the moment.

The relationship with yourself is cultivated with patience and respect . Knowing yourself will help you a lot to connect with others. Each of us are unique beings … Take your time to find out!
