El carbón se utiliza para quemar los inciensos en grano o mezclas de plantas que no tengan una combustión propia. Se enciende el carbón con unas cerillas y esperamos que el solo se encienda por completo, una vez lo veamos totalmente encendido es cuando debemos poner encimas las resinas para que se quemes y desprendan su fragancia. Importante ponerlo en un recipiente que aguante el calor, ya que coge mucha temperatura.
